Livingstonia Hiking Daytrip You go for a wonderful hike up the mountains via many shortcuts, but still (16km’s each way). The trip starts at Chitimba Camp a takes you all the way up to the historic Livingstonia Mission. You stop at Manchewe Falls and its caves where you can cool down in a natural bath. You will visit Livingstonia Old Mission Post, the Stone House and the church. You can look in the museum which has an interesting collection of artifacts from the area and from Doctor Laws, the founder of Livingstonia. During the walk you will have great views to Lake Malawi and Nyika Mountains.
The best time to start the Livingstonia Dayhiking Trip is at 6.00 AM. Normally the Livingstonia Dayhiking trip takes between 8 and 10 hours. If you prefer it is also possible to start the Livingstonia Dayhiking Trip later. The guide collects people in the bar of Chitimba Camp.
You need good shoes, and if you want to swim in the natural bath, swimming clothes and a towel. Take drinks with you for during the walk. There is a small shop and a local restaurant in Livingstonia. It is possible to stop at the Mushroom Farm (after 11 kilometer) to drink and to eat something.
The price for the Livingstonia Dayhiking Trip is 500 MK per person. You can pay the guide at the end of the trip in the bar of Chitimba Camp. Any tourists who want to visit the museum pay an extra 200 MK fee on location.

Village Walk Visit Chitimba Orphan Care, Chitimba Health Centre, Chitimba Secondary School and Chitimba Free Primary School. During the village walk some visits will be made to some local people from Chitimba to see how they live, what kind of food they eat, and what they are doing all day. The village walk ends at the woodcarving shops. It is also possible to visit the witchdoctor (dancing, see how he is working and take the opportunity to get your future predicted).
The best time to start with the village walk is at 8. AM. Normally the village walk will take 3 hours. It is also possible to start the village walk later in the day. The guide collects people in the bar of Chitimba Camp.
The price for the village walk is 200 MK per person. You can pay the guide at the end of the trip in the bar of Chitimba Camp. Any tourists who want to visit the Witchdoctor pay an extra 250 MK on location. The tourists who choose to have their future predicted by the witchdoctor pay 250 MK extra per person at location.

Woodcarving lessons Try your hand at carving at Mphetas School of Carving. Make a key holder, small animal, Tokolosh, mask, bowl or chair yourself and take it home. The woodcarving teacher will pick you up in the bar of Chitimba Camp and he will take you to his carving school. There you can choose what you want to make and he will teach you how to carve.
Start time is up to you. Carving should take between 2 and 5 hours, depending on the size of your carving and the number of people in the group.
The price for the woodcarving lessons depends on the size of your carving. Prices start at 500 MK. You and your teacher can negotiate about the price. Wood, sandpaper and polish is included.
